BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin are therapeutic muscle-relaxing agents derived from a purified protein called Botulinumtoxin. Physicians have been safely treating patients with Botulinumtoxin for more than 20years as a therapy for relaxing muscle spasms in all parts of the body. In 2002, the FDA approved the use of Botulinumtoxin to treat moderate to severe frown lines caused by facial wrinkling.

The contractions and movements of our facial muscles are controlled by signals from the brain. Botulinumtoxin simply prevents these muscles responding to such messages. As a result, the muscles relax and the overlying skin remains unwrinkled and smooth.

The effects usually last 3 to 4 months and fade away gradually. Typically the effects are visible in 5-7 days. Maximum benefits are reached between 10 to 14 days.
